10 TIPS TO FIND A GREAT DOG WALKER

Dogs by instinct want to roam, sniff and run around. This gives them the mental stimulation and exercise they need.

In this time and age where household and work schedules are so tight, you can't always have the time to bring your four-legged friend outside.

One recommended solution is to find a dog walker. Here are some suggestions that one may consider so that your pooch will have that much needed outdoor experience.

1.ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?
Ask friends and neighbors if they can recommend someone. Better yet ask you trusted Vet.

2.INTERVIEW THE PROSPECTIVE DOG WALKER
Ask the length of experience of the dog walker. Does he have the setup and expertise to make your dog happy and safe?

3.CHECK CREDENTIALS
Find out if your prospective dog walker has any credentials to back up his claim of handling a dog.

4.LIABILITY INSURANCE
Does your prospect has any liability insurance and bonded?

5.LENGTH OF WALK
Is he the one who will walk the dog? How long will be the walk (excluding the driving time)?

6.HABITS AND TRAITS OF THE DOG
Discuss some habits and traits of the dog. Let the dog walker know where the dog is comfortable to walk and where it is uncomfortable.

7.INTERACTION WITH OTHER DOGS
Some dog may be unsociable. Ask the walker if he can slowly introduce your shy dog with other dogs. Or maybe the other way around. Your dog may have alpha nature.

8.CANINE FIRST AID
Check if the dog walker is trained to give canine first aid and how he will respond to emergency situations.

9.MEET AND GREET
Have the dog meet the prospective dog handler. Dogs have an inner nature whom they can trust and be a friend. Although in the beginning, a dog may be shy in front of a new person.

10.TEST WALK
Give the potential dog walker a test walk. Ask him if you can go along with him. Observe how he will respond to the pace of your dog. Is he paying more attention to the needs of your dog? Do you see your dog happy? Observe the ear and tail of your dog.

The relationship between your dog and dog walker need not be love at first sight. But look for someone who is warm and affectionate to your furry friend. Should you find someone who possesses such a nature, then you can confidently entrust your dog to him.
